At the beginning of Pet Boy, Stanley is a pet collector, not a pet lover. However, when he finds the tables turned and Stanley is the pet of a kid on another planet, he learns a valuable lesson.

"Having gotten the monster book out of my system with Frank, I wanted to do a weird space-alien book. Since I was a kid I had imagined what it would be like to be a pet and the space setting makes it all the more fun."
